On Monday, August 14th, the United States Defense Secretary, Jim Mattis, said that if Kim Jong-un follows through on his threats to launch missiles to the US “it’s game on.” He continues, by saying that “if any missiles are detected [coming] towards Guam or the United States, they will be found within moments.” He also says that if missiles are fired, it will most likely turn into a war.

According to Fox News, Kim Jong-un has supposedly delayed the launch. Could this have been because of President Trump’s response, that North Korea will face “fire an fury” if they attacked the US? President Trump has also said, “[Kim Jong-un] will not get away with what he’s doing, believe me.”

President Trump has recently said that he would like to “de-nuke the world.” He also stated, “I would like Russia and China and Pakistan and many other countries to get rid of them.Until such time as they do, we will be the most powerful nuclear nation in the world by far.”

However, Fox News writer Harry Kazianis says that if nuclear war were to start, it would be a repeat of history for America. He also says that depending on how many nukes are launched, approximately 8 million people can die. One Pentagon official has said, “There was no question, millions of people would die.” As anyone can imagine, this would be catastrophic to the world.

US war experts have come up with three main scenarios, if war breaks out against North Korea. Kazianis stated that, “We assume [Kim Jong-un will] strike the target cities.” After several nuclear weapon attacks, these experts have approximated that over 8 million Americans, North Koreans, South Koreans, and other local people of Asian countries will be killed. This is also not including all of the people who would be affected by the radiation of the weapons.

The US government has suggested that in order to survive, civilians should have: water, non-perishable foods, a battery-powered radio, flashlights, first aid kit, whistle, extra batteries, dust mask, moist towels, can opener, maps and a cellphone with a charger and backup batteries. These would help survivors in case of nuclear attack.

Hopefully this nuclear war threat will safely pass, without any danger or harm coming to any people of the world.
