Man Upset at Hospital Nurses Sets Fire to Bed

John David King, a 75-year-old man, was admitted into the hospital due to respiratory problems. He requested that nurses bring him new clothes since he had been wearing the same ones for a couple of days, however, his request was ignored. In response to this, King decided to take action – by lighting a plastic bag next to his bed on fire. He says he didn’t want to hurt anyone, but felt he was being ignored by the nurses and wanted them to acknowledge him. He was arrested after the fire was put out by nurses, and is currently being held in jail on a $15,000 bond.

Florida Strawberries: Bigger, Sweeter, Better

A scientist in Florida has genetically modified strawberries so that they are no longer red when ripe; instead, they turn bright white, with small red seeds. When ready to eat, these strawberries are smaller than most strawberries in stores today (which are selectively bred and genetically modified to be much bigger than their wild counterparts). These scientists have also made variants of these strawberries, ones that taste like grapes. They are saying that these strawberries will be more readily available in the next year or two.

Man goes 73 in a 55 Zone, Tells Officer He’s Just Going With the Flow

At 1:33 a.m., you don’t find a lot of people out on the roads except those who have been working. Unfortunately for this man, his job was at a bar, where he told the officer who pulled him over that he had only two shots before he left work. He had been going 73 mph in a 55 mph zone on the highway when the officer pulled him over. The man tried to persuade the officer into only giving him a warning by saying he had only been going with the flow of traffic, when the officer pointed out that he and the man were the only ones on the highway at the time. The man turned out to have a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit in Florida, and is currently being held in jail.
