Many Super Smash Bros. fans get excited when any discussion about a dlc fighter is brought up. However Nintendo, themselves, accidently updated the Smash Bros. Ultimate website to reveal that the mysterious addition belongs to SNK Corporation. This mistake was soon corrected but the SNK trademark being added to the page caused many fans to debate whether this accident could hole some legitimacy. Fortunately, Nintendo has revealed the answer to the mystery in the recent Nintendo Direct on September 4 ,2019.

Twitter User @New_WabiSabi tweeted the information after recognizing that the trademark was updated,”Challenge Pack 4 in #SmashBrosUltimate will apparently be a character from SNK.

Before the Nintendo Direct, fans were not sure whether the accident was about updating the page too early or updating the wrong page. Despite the uncertainty, many fans jumped on the side of the added trademark being a clue that the new addition is from the SNK franchise. So who could this be? Many hopeful fans predicted that the new inclusion would be Terry Bogard  from Fatal Fury. There were other choices from the SNK franchise but none compared to Terry’s popularity.

Terry Bogard’s addition to the dlc fighter pass would not be unlikely. He has great potential to be a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Terry Bogard is not a nobody when it comes to fighting games. He is recognized to be one of the most popular characters from a well loved game by fans. Since he is also from a fighting game, this would allow for special moves that are unique to that particular fighter which are inspired from Terry’s moveset in Fatal Fury. The SNK franchise has a few games and even an exclusive game on the Nintendo Switch. It would make sense that Nintendo and SNK have made these exchanges to allow the possibility of Terry Bogard’s addition.

After the September 4th Direct, Nintendo had revealed quite a bit of information about Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The first being that the third dlc fighter, Banjo and Kazooie, is now available to play for those who have purchased the dlc. The next reveal was that there will be more fighters being added outside of the five fighters from the fighter pass. Home Run Contest was added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s 5.0 update and will be the last of gamemodes added to Smash Ultimate. More Mii fighter costumes, which includes Sans from Undertale (which was added after Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, defeated Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros, in a few matches), a few of Mega Man characters, and Team Rocket, will be available for purchase. Lastly, it was announced who the fourth addition to the roster will be.  As many expected the accidental trademark update held some legitimacy. The fourth character is from the SNK franchise. Specifically from Fatal Fury, the new fighter is Terry Bogard with an estimated release date of November 2019. But until the arrival of Fatal Fury’s representative, Terry Bogard, enjoy the latest additions to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 5.0 update.
