I woke up to the nurse frantically shaking me. “Jeez, I’m not dead did you check my pulse?” I sarcastically asked. “Well, you have been sleeping more than you usually have, so sorry for panicking, especially after trying to wake you for five minutes,” she replied, “Get up it’s time for group therapy.” and with that, she walked out. I got up and changed into the uniform they provide. I waited at the door for them to harshly pull me into the correct room but no one showed to open the door. I sat on the bed for around ten minutes before I heard the keypad noise of someone opening the door. My heart sank as I saw it was just a nurse. She beckoned me to walk out of the bedroom, “Wow, you guys actually trust me to walk all by myself? I must be a big girl now,” I said sarcastically. She stifled a laugh but quickly maintained her composure.

When I entered the room there were about two dozen chairs in a circle, all except for two chairs. I was led to sit in one of the chairs. I zoned out for all of it until the leader of the group told everyone she was going to send down a piece of paper that we would all write down something we want to know about the group. As the paper was passing through I was wondering what I needed to write. When it got to me I looked at what others wrote and everyone wrote down the words, “use the light on the pen.” I flipped the pen over and turned the light on. There were messages in invisible ink. It read: We know who you are. We know you are special. We are all getting out of here tonight. I passed the paper down not even sure if it was to me or if it was a joke. I had so much hope for it. The guards were back in a second they grabbed me and walked me and the rest of the group back to our rooms. “So much for timely meals,” I said after I heard my stomach growl. When I got to my bed, I opened my book and continued reading beauty and the beast. I got to the part where he let her go with the magic mirror when I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to the fire alarm. All the doors unlocked automatically. A young girl about my age came in and grabbed me. “Quick if we want to escape we have to go now!” she yelled. I quickly grabbed my book and ran after her.
