The 2019 NBA playoffs started earlier this month and the hype is growing more every game. Eight teams in the west and eight teams in the east compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy. The eight teams in the east include the Brooklyn Nets, Philidelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, and Toronto Raptors. The western teams include Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trailblazers, and Oklahoma City Thunder. A lot of these teams have already played several playoff games.

In the East the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers faced off and the 76ers came out and won 4-1 after a nasty series between the two teams. The Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks played each other and the Bucks were there to get some business done. They swept the struggling Pistons because of the MVP candidate, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Boston Celtics, lead by all-star Kyrie Irving, also swept the Indiana Pacers who were without Victor Oladipo. Next the Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors went head to head in a 5 games series. The first game was taken by the Magic because DJ Augustin hit a game winner to put them up 1-0. The Raptors finished off the Magic by winning four straight games and advancing to the next round.

Now to the western conference where the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round. So far the Warriors are ahead in the series 3-2. The Clippers are not going to give up especially after beating the Warriors at home 129-121. James Harden and the Houston Rockets took on Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz in the first round. The Rockets almost got the series sweep, but lost in game four in Salt Lake City. Back in Houston for game five the Rockets came out with a win after a close game and won the series 4-1. The Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs are playing each other in a close 3-2 series. The Nuggets are lead by Jamaal Murray and Nikola Jokic, and the San Antonio Spurs are Led by LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan. Finally the Portland Trailblazers and Oklahoma City Thunder played in the first round. The Trailblazers came out on won the series 4-1 because of Damian Lillard sending the Thunder home after a deep buzzer beater three in game five.

Round one is coming to a close and every team still has the same goal in mind, getting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
