Charger volleyball had a 3-game week this past week. They had three straight games; one against Arizona College Prep on Tuesday, one against McClintock on Wednesday, and another against ALA Gilbert on Thursday. The Chargers came off a hard loss to reigning state champions, Higley, in a 3-0 loss. They fought hard against Higley and kept up with them, but they could not find a rhythm to pull out a win. The Chargers have a couple hard losses that have put them behind in the rankings, so they were pushing for some wins this past week.

The game against ACP was exceptional for the Chargers. ACP had played the Knights in previous tournament that they won, so the Chargers knew they could beat them if they played a tough game. ACP had the home court advantage, but the Chargers did not let that change the way they play. The Chargers won the first set, but then the Knights came back strong and won the next two sets. In the fourth set the Chargers were down 7-15. They did not give up and fought back to win that set 25-18. This led them to a fifth set win to give the Chargers the win.

On Wednesday the Chargers traveled to McClintock for there second game of the week. The Chargers started out well against McClintock, winning the first two sets. They began to slack off in the third set and gave up this set to the opposing team. The Chargers could not take another loss, so they stepped up their game and won the fourth set to give them the win. Thursday was an exciting game, but did not have the outcome that the Chargers wanted.

In their game against ALA Gilbert, the Chargers came out strong again for their third game in a row. The Eagles were not prepared for them, and the Chargers played exceptional, winning the first two sets. With their spirits high, the Chargers began the third set but did not play how they had before. The Eagles began to dominate and the Chargers were having a rough time bringing it back. After losing the third and fourth sets, the game went into the fifth set. Both teams were determined to win, but in the end the Eagles won the set in a close game. This was a tough loss for the Chargers, but it should fuel them for their upcoming tough games.
