On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday MCO had concerts all day. Cast B had one concert on Thursday that started at 5 pm and ended around 7 pm. The choir had to be there at 3:30 and practice hours before. Cast A had two concerts Friday and had to be at the Mesa Arts center from 3:30 pm to around 10:00 pm. On Saturday Cast B had two concerts, one at 5 pm and one at 8 pm. The chaotic and long practices paid off in the end.

Every performance was sold out within the first day the tickets had gone on sale. Many people had family come in from different places just to watch the concert. EVMCO, or East Valley Millennial choir and orchestra, is an LDS choir that is full of children, teens, and adults. The choir is full of at least 1,000 people all together and perform amazing concerts, especially at Christmas time.

The cast and crew works extremely hard to make the events as incredible as they can be. This years Christmas concert was called Messiah and was filled with Christmas spirit.

EVMCO is a perfect experience to make new friends and gain great experiences. This year’s concert was a bit of a change compared to all the others. Because the choir is so big, it was split up into two different casts. Cast A and Cast B. Both choirs performed on different days but both did an amazing job.

When members of the choir first arrive to the Mesa Fine Arts center, they check in and go find their sections. Because the building is so big, it was hard to get everyone organized into the right spots, but it was not impossible. Many parents volunteered to help behind the set and help the youth of the choirs get to where they needed to go. Before the concert started at 5:00 pm the youth choir and the concert choir sat in a smaller auditorium to practice and go through their music. During that time the choirs warmed up and perfected their pieces that needed it most. Around 4:45-4:55 the parents who had volunteered to help led everyone from that smaller auditorium to the backstage of the main one. The choirs patiently waited backstage as the older choir finished their song on stage. Once that choir was finished performing their part, the concert Choir got on the risers and opened the concert with a beautiful version of O’Holy Night.

The light of the stage was just right and reflected the beautiful blue dresses perfectly with the decorations around. The men were wearing suits and ties and the women in long blue dresses with a diamond band around the waist. Once the concert Choir was finished with their part on the risers, they quickly headed off and made their way to the balconies in their different sections of altos and sopranos.

Throughout the concert each section would go in and out of the balcony areas. When they weren’t performing they were waiting in the halls of the Art Center hanging out and having fun. MCO concerts are not just stressful but they can be really fun at times too. Most people who are a part of the Choir make some of their closets friends there.

At the end of the concert the directer brought out all the choirs and they all sang together and performed an amazing, breath taking version of Hallelujah. Saturday night was the last concert and everyone says that that one was the most amazing performance of them all. Everyone in the room was touched with great emotion by hearing the music including those who were singing.
