Student Concern: How do I sign up for the emergency text messaging service offered by the university?
Resolution: An e-mail was sent out to all students explaining the program and with instructions to sign up. In case you missed it you can register at www.newhaven.edu/campustext/

Student Concern: Health Services should be open on the weekends and have extended hours during the week. It is not the responsibility of individual students "after hours" to go to the local ER. UNH should proved better healthcare to its student population.
Resolution: Our hopes are to increase the hours when we receive approval for additional staff. We will be putting this in the budget for next year. Students should never go to the ER unless it is a true emergency. A list of walk in clinics can be found in the Student Handbook on page 111.

Student Concern: The response to the ice on Sunday night was very slow and the entire campus was a hazard. I had a very hard time walking from one side of the campus to the other. Even the grass was hard to walk on because of the ice.
Resolution: The UNH Facilities department was out all night salting both the parking lots and side walks. Facilities asks that you take your time walking when it is slippery and if possilbe stay inside.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Student Concern: The lights outside the New Hall patio do not turn on when it gets dark. They turn on an hour or two after it becomes dark.
Resolution: Those lights are actually attached to sensors. Facilities is currently looking into cleaning or replacing the sensors.

Student Concern: Now that the fences around the new Rec Center have been removed, it is possible to use the walkways and stairs ajacent to the building. The stairs along side the building DO NOT have a railing.
Resolution: Until the railing is installed facilities is asking students not to use those stairs. Two sawhorses have been placed on each end of thes steps to deter students from using the steps. The railing should be installed soon! As of 2/28/08 it has been installed.

Student Concern: The Wade Street parking lot has been in existence for just over two years now and ABSOLUTELY NO safety processions have been discussed to keep students crossing the Post Road Safe.
If we are going to be forced to park across the street there should at MINIMUM be a sign that tells cars there is pedestrian crossing. There is one across campbell ave for the bus stop why cant we have one too?One like that would be nice.
I am a transfer student and it amazes me that there is nothing done to protect me. I have almost been hit several times. I understand there is a crosswalk at the main entrance but it is very inconvenient to have to walk all the way to there when I am trying to go to Winchester, as I already do not feel safe at night walking around campus.
I'm not asking for a stop light or stop sign to stop traffic, just some warning sign to cars.
Resolution: Safety Bulletin from Chief Starkel - Many students and staff are concerned about the safety of pedestrians crossing the
Boston Post Rd.
at points where there is no crosswalk or traffic control signals. The dangers in trying to cross this highway include several lanes of fast moving traffic with many drivers, and pedestrians, distracted by the use of cell phones or other things that cause them to pay less attention to safe driving. Crossing becomes more hazardous in darkness and in bad weather conditions. Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to cross the
Boston Post Rd. at the controlled intersection at the main campus entrance near Echlin Hall.

Student Concern: There are always 3 to 4 cars parked outside the German Club at this time. I ask that CP partrols this area. This is not a parking lot. If resident students get tickets for parking there, so should athletes. They are not an exception.
Resolution: Campus Police will be stepping up patrols in that area. The UNH athletic director has also informed the coaches of all teams to make sure that nobody parks there.
