Resolutions
Student Concern: Sandella's is really hot! It's not fair to the workers!
Resolution: A new ventilation system has been ordered and is expected in a few weeks!
Student Concern: Last year there were PB&J sanwiches. Can we have them back?
Resolution: There are PB&J sandwiches at the Marketplace and will soon be at the deli.
Student Concern: There are no plates at the Salad Bar!
Resolution: Plates should be restocked as they run out but if not just take them from a diffrent station.
Student Concern: I keep taking the Ice Cream with the Peanut Butter in it. Can we label them?
Resolution: From now on Ice Cream in Bartels will be labeled.
Student Concern: Are there going to be regular Chicken Patties anymore?
Resolution: At dinner regular chicken patties will be available.
Student Concern: Last year the menu's were posted on the Dinning Services website. Why did they take them down.
Resolution: Dinning Services was not aware that the menu's were not being posted. They should now be posted.
2008-2009
Concern: Many other campuses that I have been to have somewhere to get food late at night (i.e. 12am or 2am). I have heard many complaints from other students as well that would like to have somewhere open that late where they can go get some sort of food. McDonalds was a semi-solution to that but they have been closed for remodeling and we are left hungry! Keeping the C Store open later for a while was a nice step in that direction and I\'m sure that you saw sales-wise it was worth looking into that further. Please look into having somewhere that is open later than the 9pm or so that everything closes at now. Thank you.
Resolution: Dinning Services has expanded its hours for the 2008-2009 academic year during the evening hours at the C-Store and Sandellas. Sandellas is scheduled to remain open until 2am. Posted August 1, 2008.
**All concerns from the start of school to 9/11/2008 have been complied into this report.
Concern: Times that a student is able to use their meal plan at new hall isn't the same time that it's allowed at old cafe. For example: The dinner meal plan during the week ends at 7:30pm in old cafe but 7:00pm at new hall. Is there any way that both places have the SAME times for meal plan usage?
Resolution: Both Market Place and New Hall hours should be the same for meal equiv. during dinner. I will look into it and correct the misunderstanding asap. Lawrence Lisborg Posted 9/12/2008
Concern: The trash cans being used in the caf are of the completely wrong design. The food sticks to the top of the trash can and builds up. What happened to the old ones?
Resolution: The old trash cans were disposed of because they were leaking. The trash cans being used now were actually inside of the old ones. During the renovation in Bartels, there will be shelving added in that area to make it easier to dispose of garbage. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: Dining Services is sending out way too many emails. Between all the Take 3: World Taste menus daily and advertisements for different dinner nights, my email is filling up very rapidly. Is it possible for them to maybe publish a weekly Take 3 menu instead of sending it everyday?
Concern: Last year it was extremely convenient to know what the dinner menue in bartel's was before actually going to dinner just by checking the website. unfortunately this year the menues for this semester haven't been up since school started. I just says TBA. If the menues were posted online again that would be awesome!
Concern: too many food emails.
Concern: To many e-mails
Concern: I would like to get daily, preferably weekly menus of upcoming food in Echlin and new hall Cafes
Concern: The daily e-mails regarding what todays menu is are very annoying. If i want to know what there is for food, i will walk through the dining options. Put the daily menu on a web site so that we dont get bombarded with e-mails that fill up our inbox.
Resolution: They are currently in the process of putting together a weekly email to be sent out every Monday that will include menus for all of the dining locations on campus in order to cut down on the amount of emails currently being sent out. They are hoping to have this completed soon. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: Can students please have back Ken's product of Honey Mustard either during both lunch and dinner or just lunch? This product is enjoyed by students and faculty alike. Thank you.
Resolution: Ken’s Honey Mustard is currently available at the grill station, it just does not come in packets anymore. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: The label on the mustard in Bartels says "Refrigerate after Opening." Is this a health issue? Also, I should not have to go through a stack of 10 to 15 plates to find one that is clean.
Resolution: It is safe to have the mustards on the table. The containers say best if refrigerated after opening, but can be served at room temperature as well. They are working on a different method of washing dishes in order to ensure that they are all clean. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: I think the the hours of the quick zone and sandellas are working well with the student body but i dont feel their should be professional staff working until these early morning hours. For example Rode should only work until
10pm
then a student should take over for her until
2am
. She has a family and this is not fair to her or her family. Please pass along to proper authorities.
Resolution: The workers at Sandella’s and the Quick Zone choose their hours, so if they are working late it is by choice. Also, they said that they wanted to avoid having the students work late nights due to classes. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: In Bartels at lunch today (at like
11:15
, so not even during rush hour) 10 "Out of Order" signs were hung on drink machines and 4 "Change Package" messages were on the other juices. So there was basically no fountain drinks. Not good.
Resolution: There was a low supply of drinks in the beginning of the semester, but this has since been resolved and will be avoided in the future. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: i have noticed lately that the staff at pandinis has been very slow at serving food. the other night i went there and ordered unbaked pasta. i waited a half an hour and had not recieved my food. in that amount of time i could have made it myself at home and have already begun to eat it. also, there were people that had ordered the exact same thing after me and they recieved their food first. thats not right and i was furious. my friend was finished with her food before i even recieved mine. so i ended up swiping someone elses food because i was not going to wait any longer. a staff member i noticed was also very slow in general when making food. and especially with the high amount of students here, the staff needs to be focused, NOT chit chatting, work faster, no dilly dallying and just get the orders done! if someone could please bring this to the head of the department that would be greatly appreciated.
Resolution: This concern has been brought up and will be addressed to the workers in new hall to prevent it from happening in the future. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern: What happened to the honey mustard, barbecue, Sweet and Sour and horse radish sauces in Echlin dining hall, They have not had them out for the past couple of weeks and I would appreciate them asap. Also, Jazzmans cafe in Bartels has recently had only one hot drink machine working, and there are supposedly 3 machines, hence the drinks are being produced slowly, I fear during the winter, the lines would be so long it would not be worth my business to get my daily hot chocolate.
Resolution: The sauces are all available at the grill station in bartels. The issue of the out of order drink machines was acknowledged and they will prevent it from happening in the future. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 10/6/2008
Concern:1. Can we get strawberries back at the waffle station for brunch
2. Make sure there’s labels on what the vegetarian/vegan food is.
3. Posting the menu online a possibility?
4. Does Pandini's serve dessert? Could they look into having their whole menu posted? It would make ordering easier.
Resolution:They are going looking into putting strawberries at the waffle station and also making sure the vegetarian/vegan food is clearly labeled. Regarding the menus, they are working on putting one online, and the Pandinis complete menu is online in the dining services section of the UNH website. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern:The lights in the cafeteria in Bartels hall are not always on during meal hours, most often on weekends. I feel this diminishes the "dining experience," as my party is often left with an odd amount of light. I only imagine this concern is, pardon the cliché, as easy to fix as flipping a switch.
Resolution:This concern is being brought up to maintenance in order to prevent a future occurrence.
USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern:Can we please go back to the plastic containers or make the new ones thicker?
Resolution: They have decided to go back to the plastic containers due to numerous concerns with the new containers USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern:Where do the prices in the Quick Zone come from? They seem pretty high.
Resolution:Due to a lack of storage space, they are not able to buy in bulk like most grocery stores do, so they are buying item by item. By doing this, they are paying a higher price therefore charging a higher price. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern:I keep requesting to not be charge off my meal plan but rather on my dining dollars at new hall but this never happens. Who can I talk to in order to change this on my card?
Resolution:They will be addressing the staff on this issue. From now on, before you pay you can request to be charged dining dollars rather than meals. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern:it seems in bartels dining hall every time a country song comes on it is cut short to go to rap. more country would be awesome
Resolution:They are adding a few more country songs to the CDs in Bartels in order to have more variety. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern:I tried to purchase food at Sandella's with a credit card since I am a commuter without a meal plan. However, Sandella's does not accept credit cards. Is there a way that they could change that?
Resolution:They are currently working on getting a credit card machine in Sandellas, since this will be very beneficial to many students. The issue has been brought up to Alan McDougall, who in turn has spoken to Blackboard about it, and now it is in their hands. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 11/3/2008
Concern: Can we have bacon at the Deli Station during dinner on weekdays/weekends and brunch on the weekends?
Resolution: They will now serve bacon at the deli station during dinner and brunch. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: When are we getting soft serve ice cream? I heard that we were supposed to have had soft serve ice cream this year.
Resolution: They are still planning on getting the soft serve ice cream, but are in the process of looking for a spot to put the machine. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: I really enjoy having the music on in the cafeteria, but sometimes it is way too loud. I don't think it is necessary that the music should be clearly heard all the way upstairs. Is there a way we can manage the volume so we would be able to hear conversations at our own table without having to yell?
Resolution: This issue has been brought up, and the music will be lowered in the future. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: There should be more than 2 people working at jazzmans. It takes 15 min just to get a cup of coffee.
Resolution: They hired a supervisor to manage both Jazzmans locations, and are in the process of hiring another employee for the Bartels location. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: I would love to see mozz sticks at lunch...they are fabulous. Also, there should be fruit to put into the waffles in the morning...I love a good blueberry waffle. Thanks!
Resolution: They do not have the room to put fruit by the waffle machines, but it is possible to use the fruit that is by the yogurt for your waffles. Also, they will have mozzarella sticks at lunch. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: Posted prices in the QuickZone would be truly beneficial to all customers. It's frustrating to see an item ring in at an unexpectedly high price.
Resolution: Due to the low shelf time, the employees at the Quick Zone do not see it possible to price items as they come in, because they go out just as fast. Also, due to fluctuation of prices it is also not possible to put the prices on the shelves. However, if you want to know the price of an item you can ask any employee for a price check before you purchase it. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: In New Hall, the radio is never tuned into a station. It is always constant static which is very annoying when you are trying to talk to your friends and eat peacefully.
Resolution: The issue has been brought to the attention of the New Hall staff, and will be resolved. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
Concern: I understand that food services does not want to stock up on a bunch of food that will go bad over break. However, they have run out of EVERYTHING and we still have to eat here for a week.
Resolution: When they order food at the end of the semester, they go by the trends of the previous year. They realize they ran out of food early last semester, and will adjust the numbers appropriately this coming semester. USGA Food Committee Posted week of 3/2/09
